Patios and Outdoor Living in Ridgefield Washington Made To Order
May 15, 2016Don’t Covet The Neighbors Yard. Love Yours
May 18, 2016Many of our clients want a new lawn installed as part of their landscaping projects. We prefer sod lawn installation versus seed lawns because of less headaches and labor for our clients. Why does a seed lawn have more labor involved? After we leave a project, many seed lawns start sprouting weeds due to all the watering. This will have to be addressed once the lawn is up and has been mowed a few times. I usually means spraying for broad leaf weeds.
If the client does not water the new seed lawn well to germinate the seeds the outlook will be spotty at best. We usually install sod lawns. They are easier for our clients to handle and look great right after installation.
When we install a sod lawn we first make sure all weeds and or the old lawn is removed. We then scarify the soil, add 2″ of usually three way soil mix, grade and rake, roll the area, fertilize and lime the proposed lawn, install the sod, roll again, water and clean up. The photo below is of a RTF or Fescue sod lawn we just installed. Fescue sod is a courser bladed sod and it takes kid and dog traffic well.
